The best way to form an Interpersonal Growth Group that is highly effective, that is, one that has the greatest chance of becoming a rich growth-enhancing context is to focus on heterogeneity. These experiential groups are the "opposite" of support, where being similar to each other is key.
In Interpersonal Growth Groups I have the responsibility of forming a group that is as diverse as possible. Ideally, an Interpersonal Growth Group is comprised of:
about half men, half women
persons whose ages span 20 to 80, and older
a mix of marital status, race, gender identity
a spread of classes from working class to upper class
persons with a variety of religious belief systems
You get the idea: we learn more about the interpersonal realm when we are smack dab in the middle of a human mosaic.
INTERPERSONAL GROWTH GROUPS ARE ALWAYS FORMING, BUT NOT ALWAYS STARTING. WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THERE ARE ENOUGH OF US (12) AND THERE'S A NICE HETEROGENEOUS MIX. HENCE THE NEED FOR A WAITING LIST. IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT WANT TO BE ON THE WAITING LIST FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW. I WILL CALL YOU AND WE CAN TALK ABOUT INTERPERSONAL GROWTH GROUPS IF YOU'RE STILL INTERESTED AFTER OUR DISCUSSION, I WILL PUT YOUR NAME ON THE WAITING LIST.
THE NEXT ONES WILL PROBABLY START IN SEPTEMBER 2012
